Level 1 to 2 Transitional Moderate Sedation Permit Course - McKinney, Austin, El Paso, Longview, Odessa & Houston, Texas

Course Summary:  This specially constructed course, approved by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, will provide the necessary training to satisfy the requirements for current Level 1 permit holders to transition up to obtain a Level 2 Moderate Enteral Conscious Sedation permit in the state of Texas. Designed to provide an excellent training and review of pretreatment evaluation and management of office emergencies, this program will benefit all healthcare providers.  Once a permit is obtained, the practitioner will need to take an 8 hour one-day renewal course every TWO years.

Course Topics and Objectives:

> Pharmacology of commonly used oral sedatives

> Anatomy & physiology of conscious sedation

> Comprehensive review of patient evaluation systems and vital signs

> Patient monitoring, standards of care, and legal issues

> Complications, prevention management, case studies and review

> Discussion of clinical sedation experiences

> Live clinical sedations (3) and other sedations as required for the Level 2 program

> Hands on airway and AED laboratory sessions as required for advanced emergency management criteria

> Lecture material to update: 1) the emergency drug kit, 2) rules and regulations, 3) Monitoring and documentation, 4) Pharmacology and techniques, and 5) Emergency management
