How AESF Provides Technical Assistance to Course Participants:

AESF uses innovative techniques and productive learning interactions to help participants overcome technical obstacles before, during and after a course is completed. At the end of every year, AESF implements a strategy to provide technical assistance in a variety of methodologies, including:

1.       Databases

2.       Online-based technical assistance

3.       Individual online technology training sessions

4.       Technical assistance dialogue by e-mail

5.       Webinars and virtual technical assistance

6.       Website FAQ information

During a program, AESF uses help desk solutions and other forms of placing a participant with an individual to resolve a problem or to provide advice, as follows:

1.       Using automated information systems, for example frequently-asked-question (FAQ) databases

2.       Using proactive training and accommodations regarding equipment and software

3.       Using instructional and curriculum support, by means of observational interaction between the instructor and participant

Frequently Asked Questions regarding technical assistance:

Will I get a link to log in?

You will be sent the invite (link) several times.  It will say “Webex meeting invitation: (program title) webcast, site opens at 5:00pm, start at 5:30 pm

David Canfield is inviting you to a scheduled Webex meeting

What if I don’t get the invitation?

If you cannot find the invitation, check your junk file.  Also, you can call me at (214) 384-0796 and I can resend it.

What if the link isn’t working?

If the “Join meeting” tab isn’t working, contact me and I will resend the invite.  If it still isn’t working, the URL is included in the invite where you can access the meeting.  There are 6 options provided in the invitation to access the meeting.

What if I’m having difficulty logging in?

There are typically two reasons.

1.  If you have a MAC, it will occasionally fail to load.  If you have a spinning icon or it say setting up meeting, but has no result in about 5 minutes, then shut down and re-boot the system.  This will usually solve the problem.

2. The program says you need to download the Webex app.  There is a link and it downloads easily.  Then access to the meeting can be made.

Do I need to download any software?

Generally there is no need to download any software.

Occasionally Webex will say there is a need for a software download.  A link is provided at that time

Is there an additional cost to download software?

There is no cost for the software.

How do I ask questions during the program?

Asking questions is an extremely important component of the program. Several avenues are provided.

1.  Text messaging me at (214) 384-0796.

2. There is a chat icon where messages can be sent.  If you use this, make sure I get the question.

3.  I have the system set where you can unmute your microphone.  This is the most efficient method because you know I get the question AND everyone else can hear it.  This is my preferred method.

Do I have access to the program after it is over?

I record the programs. You will be provided a link (upon request) to access it in the future if you wish to.

What if I’m not able to get to a computer?

A phone number is provided to access the program via your phone.  This may only provide audio.  You will be sent notes prior to the program so you can visualize the program if you are only doing audio.

This is helpful in that occasionally schedules get altered, so you can still gain access to the program.

How do you know I’m attending the program?

When you log in, I will see an icon with your sign in.  If you sign in with your name, then I will know you are there.  If you sign in with some other title, I will ask you to identify yourself.

I will have check in at various times to confirm current attendance where you will either send a text, chat, or unmute your microphone to answer the roll call.  This is extremely important for compliance.

If you are unable to communicate by either of these methods, let me know prior to the program and we will determine a way to verify attendance.

What operating systems are supported?

Webex supports IOS. Windows desktop, MAC, Web Browser, Android

How do I access from windows, MAC, IOS, Android or Phone?

The link below provides detailed instructions with graphics for each type of system

https://help.webex.com/en-US/article/nrbgeodb/Join-a-Webex-Meeting#id_135069

Can I do a test session prior to the program?

Yes. You can access Webex to do a test log in session prior to the program.  It will allow you to access sound and video, provide a download (if needed), etc.
